onocoy Partners with Acurast to Reimagine Decentralized Precision Positioning
Jul 14, 2025
onocoy is proud to announce a new partnership with the Acurast Association, exploring how GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) correction data can be validated and distributed through decentralized edge compute — powered by smartphones.
This collaboration aims to unlock a next generation of decentralized infrastructure by:
Offloading RTK data validation to edge devices
Reducing latency through distributed local processing
Scaling GNSS infrastructure without relying on centralized bottlenecks
By combining two DePINs — onocoy’s decentralized GNSS reference network and Acurast’s decentralized edge compute layer — this partnership brings real-time precision positioning closer to users while eliminating dependence on traditional data centers.
“This is decentralized infrastructure at its best: transparent, resilient, and built for scale. Together, we’re enabling centimeter-level accuracy without central choke points,” said Thomas Nigg, co-founder of onocoy.
The initiative represents a step forward in real-time, open, and accessible GNSS corrections, demonstrating how DePIN projects can collaborate to create stronger, more reliable global systems.
